Libraries & Health Insurance Webinar

About two weeks ago, news broke that librarians will be expected to help people sign up for health insurance. In case you haven’t seen the articles, here are a couple:

Basically, because libraries are already bridging the digital gap by providing free access to computers and internet, librarians will be recruited to assist those who don’t own computers in signing up for health insurance. This goes into affect on October 1st.

The IMLS, OCLC’s WebJunction, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid are collaborating to provide librarians with resources to help them accomplish this goal. There will be a free webinar on Friday, July 26th (you know I’m already signed up) that will cover how libraries should be preparing and increasing awareness in the community.
